One
thing I love about social media is being able to admire all of the amazing
women there are in this world. When I started to feel more like myself again,
there were certain women that I looked to that inspired me to be a better
version of myself. Each woman that I admire is inspirational in her own way and
I had so much fun creating this list!
1.
Audrey Hepburn - Class
Audrey
has been my #1 girl for a while now. As proof, I dressed up as Holly Golightly
from Breakfast at Tiffany’s for Halloween in 2013. See embarrassing picture
below:
I’ve
also seen that movie dozens and dozens of times, but who’s counting? Audrey is
my inspiration for classiness. Her whole being is just timeless and beautiful,
even today. Not only that, but she was also a humanitarian, especially in her
later years. She was extremely passionate about UNICEF, devoting a
majority of her time to children in impoverished areas.
Side
note: she is my total #eyebrowgoals
2.
Michelle Obama - Role Model
I’m
not trying to be political in this post, but in my opinion, Michelle Obama is a
wonderful role model. She is my modern inspiration of class. Sasha and Malia
are a great example for younger girls as well. Quite honestly, I wish I had
Michelle and her daughters to look up to when I was a kid. She is an advocate
for young girls and education, something I wish I had realized the importance
of.
3.
Misty Copeland - Creating History
As
an ex-dancer, I’ll always have a special place in my heart for ballet. Even
though I no longer dance, Misty Copeland is someone that I admire because she
is literally amazing. She looks so effortless. And it’s not even just that. She
made history as the first black woman to have the lead role in Swan Lake. If
that isn’t superwoman quality, I don’t know what is.
4.
Iskra Lawrence - Body Positivity
My
best friend, Bailey, introduced me to the beautiful model Iskra Lawrence. She is
my go-to for body positivity. I was always insecure about my body, even when I
was a tiny little thing is high school. I was especially insecure about my
lower body. Iskra showed me that my body is not only just fine the way it is,
but beautiful.
5.
Miley Cyrus - Bravery
My
entire life, I have always been worried about being criticized just for being
the way I am. With that being said, I really admire Miley’s “I don’t give a
f*** what you think about me” attitude. Especially in today’s world, it takes a
special person to be that brave.
6.
Demi Lovato - Confidence
This
one isn’t just because I was obsessed with Camp Rock in middle school (although
that’s a little why). Demi Lovato just radiates confidence. She even has a song
about it so you really can’t deny it. I’m not going to lie to you. Sometimes I
listen to it when I need a bit of a confidence boost. I think her confidence
comes from going through some rough things in life and fighting her way back. Because of that, I really admire her work ethic both professionally and
personally. Not only is she a great role model, but also and advocate for
anti-bullying. What can’t she do??
7.
Lucille Ball - Just Being Yourself
If
I had to choose between being glamourous (well, pretend glamourous) and a total
goofball, I’m not really sure what I would do. Lucille Ball was proof that just
because you are a woman, you don’t have to choose. You can be both! It’s a good
reminder to not be afraid to just be yourself.
PS
I have had the entire I Love Lucy series DVD set since the 8th grade.
